  • The House that Cranky Built

What a day this has been. Friday's are my day for washing sheets and doing the grocery shopping. I like to have it all done by eleven so that I have plenty of time to just do the pick up of the house that is needed. Today, that just did not happen.

After taking the kids to school I took the two little ones and off we went to the grocery store. So far so good. Get all that taken care of, but didn't get the sheets put in first thing because I needed laundry detergent. Uh oh, schedule is off. I got home around 10:30 and took one look around and realized that Emily's teacher was due at noon and my quick ten minute clean from the night before was no longer very clean. I unloaded the groceries and ran like a mad woman through the living room to get it ready. Shoot, sheets still aren't in the wash.

Mary, her teacher was about ten minutes late, which meant that by the time she left I would have just enough time to run to Wal-Mart and pick up the few things I couldn't get at the grocery store. So much for my lunch and still no sheets in the wash. Quick run to Wal-Mart yielded me the items I needed and it was off to pick up the three older ones from school. I get there just in time for dismissal and we head for home.

I have just long enough to realize I still haven't stripped the beds before it is time to pick up Liz. Grab Liz, run her home, grab diapers from Jake, and Whit, Emily and myself are off to the doctor. An hour and half at the doctor finally brings us the news that Whitney is fine and we have nothing to worry about. Phew, can I go home now?

I drop Whitney at her friends so that I don't have to make another trip down the hill and then finally I am headed home to my happy loving family. I should have stayed out.

Matt is cooking and seems to be in an okay mood. Caleb hasn't had a nap and he is very cranky. Jake, who is always happy and positive is absolutely the crankiest person I have ever met snapping at everyone. Liz decided to hide in her room after I left because he was so cranky. Josh hasn't surfaced for fear the wrath will fall on him as well.

I take one look at this group and decide I need a nice hot bath. Five minutes in the tub and I hear Matt and Liz getting cranky with Caleb and out I come. A phone call with my mother was a disaster due to the crankiness that was surrounding me. I did learn that my brother just got his details for his residency. He is heading to New York. Yea, Jerry!!

So, I am off to put my cranky children to bed and am hoping for happier days tomorrow. Oh, and clean sheets. Ugh, hate when the schedule gets off.

This is the second failed bath I've heard about in the last 24 hours. I'm developing a plan already...I shall wait until Miss Megan is fed, changed, and otherwise happy before sneaking out the door, getting a room at the Rosen Plaza and taking my bubble baths there! "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on the door and the chain in place 'just in case' any maids try anything cute.

I didn't get a bath last night either, due to the chaos of having one of my sons friends over last night. grrrrr. Here to more successful baths

I hate those days... everyone just makes the next person more cranky!  Lucky Whitney - she got to be at a friend's house!
