Random
I was out of the house literally all day. I took the three older kids to school and came home. Fed Emily and then ran Liz to school. Tomorrow is Caleb's birthday and I had a zillion things to do for that. Headed to Wal-Mart in search of his present (yes, nothing like waiting til the last minute). I have found it online, but it seems to not want to be in stock at the store. I will order it and he can have a late gift. He has a few other things and it will be easier to get it after the move anyway. It is a workshop and is a bit on the large side.
Emily decided to have a tummy issue so I headed home for a change of clothes before heading to order the cake. Good thing because the school called. Whitney was having a really bad reaction to something and her eyes were burning. No biggie, went and picked her up while calling the doctor about what to do. Eye drops and warm compresses. Great. Head to the store to order little man's cake. Head to the other grocery store to pick up groceries. Call the new landlord about security deposit and where the heck my workmen are. I am so glad I rarely use my cell phone because I was burning up the minutes today.
Caleb is hungry and so is Whit. Fine, stop for lunch. Come home for just long enough to eat and get the cashiers check from Matt for the security deposit. I will be so glad when we get first months rent paid and can use an actual personal check. UGH.
Matt asks me can I also stop at the post office and mail his boss his paychecks. He is out with an injury and asked if Matt would drop them in the mail. Sure, no problem. It is just another stop when I only have an hour to get across town and back before the boy's get out of school. I go to what has to be the slowest post office in the land and wait for a good ten minutes to mail it out only to be told that I can't get delivery confirmation unless I want to spend the extra bucks to priority ship it. Um, no...it is going across town. He can just call and let us know it got there. Another UGH.
I race to the broker to give her the check. "Yes, workmen will have job completed prior to move in. Oh, and did I mention that instead of a half months rent we really need the half as well as the next full month prior to move in? Yes, I know I told you we wouldn't need the full month until March 1st, but um well, I lied. You know, kind of like I lied when I said a March 1st move in was no problem at all." No, it wasn't quite that bad, but it was almost that bad. Yet another UGH. I am watching my very large tax return dwindle town to nothing before my very eyes. In all honesty, we will pay the full amount and not have to pay again until April, so it will all balance out, but I just hate seeing all that go out at once. We still have to pay half a month's rent here as well.
I then race to the school to pick up the boy's. Oh, and now would be a good time to mention the very odd call I received in those brief moments I was at home. Josh called from school to let me know that he had "forgotten" to give us his dentention slip from Thursday of last week. He would have a dentention tomorrow for "goofing around". This will make sense when you read the next sentence. I am never late to pick them up, but today I was about five minutes behind. I pull up and see the boys heading my way down the sidewalk. In the street is an older man walking toward my car. Oh yes, it seems that Josh's behavior warranted a trip by his teacher to my car...on the street behind the school. It is a long walk and for that teacher to come all that way and wait meant that something really not good must have occured. In all my eighteen years as a mom, I have NEVER had a teacher meet me at my car.
I rolled down my window and he asked had Josh called about the dentention. I assured him that I had received the call and asked him what exactly had happened. Apparently there was a sub on Thursday and the note that was left on Josh read "Joshua A. YIKES" I am so proud. He went on to tell me that his behavior had become so disruptive that it was taking away from the other students. I was beyond livid. I let him no in clear terms that I had already made his father aware of the dentention and would make him aware of what he had just told me. I also requested if he have anymore trouble to call us immediately. It is second grade all over again.
Luckily or unluckily, depending on which person in this story you are; Matt was home and still awake when we got home. Jake and I had to run inside for just a sec, but I sure wish that we had waited in the car. Whitney did, but she said she could still hear Matt. It was far worse inside. Suffice it to say that this has woken Matt up to the trouble and he is promising to remain on top of the situation.
That was my exciting day.
Tomorrow is Caleb's fourth birthday. We are having a Power Rangers cake and party. Have a great day and I will be back on Wednesday...I hope.

Phew, that was tiring just to read about!! Sit down and take a break! Haha Happy birthday to the little man!
Sounds like you had suuuuuch a busy day!! I'm sorry you have to deal with Josh's behavior. :( I'm sure that is no fun having to deal with that! I hope the birthday party goes well tomorrow!! :)
Wow. "Busy" doesn't seem to quite cover it... At least Matt got a whiff of the roses...sucks that it has to happen in the midst of a birthday party and moving, but...well...that's life, I suppose. Hope Em feels better soon. Poor girl.
Im glad you survived! At least that day is over now!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALEB!
Oh, my. I agree. It is break time.
That really sucks about the rent. At least it will be all done and taken care of before you move in. One less thing to worry about while you are getting settled.
Happy (late) Birthday, Caleb!
