Mindless thoughts
I didn't sleep well last night so I shall blame that for this mindless blog.
The exterminator came today. Since we moved in we have been bombarded with earwigs. They look like these teeny tiny scorpions and frankly, I do not do bugs. He was a very nice man and he proceeds to tell me that we have pretty much moved into centipede nation. Not just any centipede. Oh no, these are poisonous and if one of the kids happen to get bitten by one they would have to immediately be taken to the ER. Guess who will be calling the property management on Monday to inform them that there seems to be a problem and it needs to be resolved, now. The previous tenants apparently went a bit crazy with the placement of limbs and such that they cut from trees. They used a few large logs to make a retaining wall and in doing so created the perfect place for these things to breed. Those logs so have to go.
Whitney had to get her hair cut today. I called at the beginning of the week to schedule her with my new hairstylist. Off we go over there to be told they made the appointment with the wrong girl and that Lisa wasn't even in today. Oh goodie. Fortunately, they had made the appointment with the owner of the salon, so at least she got an awesome cut. Because Emily was being so restless, I took her and Caleb down to Target to find Whit some new flip flops. Of course the kind she loves is completely sold out of her size and I am too unsure of any of the others to buy them. Off we head back to the salon with the thought that she should be almost done. Because the garden center is closer to the salon, I head out that way. Unfortunately, Whitney is just passed the garden center on her way to the front door of Target and we totally miss each other. Now would be a good time to mention that my phone was sitting on the kitchen counter charging.
The girl at the salon says I just missed her and off I go back to Target. By this time I am just tired and want to lie down and cry. Since Whitney is her mother's daughter; it doesn't take long to locate her. I just go toward the shoe department and hear her yelling; "Ange...Ange...where are you Ange?" Gotta love her demure ways. She found a pair of flip flops that met her requirements; black with a paper thin sole and we were off again.
I just discovered today that one of my favorite authors; Jodi Picoult; has a new book out. Imagine my joy when I learned it was focusing on the decisions parents must face when having a child with a disability. I am heading to Borders later today to pick it up. I have my 30% off coupon and a little remaining on a gift card so I am excited. I will let you know what I think when I am done. With the way I have been feeling lately; this book could not have come out at a better time.
I think my mindless banter is over. I am going to clean a bit and then try and sneak a catnap. Have a great day!!

It's soooo funny that you mention that book because I JUST finished it today! "Handle with Care"???!!! It is a GREAT read!! I belong to her book club so I get her books the day they come out! lol. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. I wish you and I lived close to each other.. I think we would be great friends! =)
Glad you found flip flops that met Whit's requirements. lol.Oh, I am so glad that you read it. I was hoping for a good review. I seriously think we would be the best of friends if we only lived closer. Feel like moving to sunny San Diego? LOL
@gwacemom - After your delightful description of the bugs, you think you're gonna convince her to come live near you?? lol. We had these horrid little bugs at our last place. No idea what they were, but they were everywhere it seemed. Hated it. Good luck with your bug problems.
RYC: I cried too. When I met her, Austin was only two...the same age as her son when he died. I had nightmares...and cold sweats every time a cardio appointment would come up. I'm not as bad now, but Austin still needs a pulmonary valve replacement. So, her Hunter really hit home with me. Your angel is beautiful!
Centipedes? I think Im glad I didnt look you up while I was in CA!
I hope that the property managers can get this taken care of quickly... and the first time...
