There's no place like home
After a sometimes emotional week long visit; I am happy to be home again. We landed just a few hours ago and I am sitting here trying to ignore the disaster that has become my home.
Whitney, Caleb, Em, and I arrived in Dallas at midnight Wednesday. We had a wonderful shuttle driver that waited those extra ten minutes for us to make it down to the pick up area. Once again, a huge THANK YOU. Trying to drag a large suitcase, two carry ons, a car seat, and two toddlers across the airport at midnight was a difficult task, but we made it to the hotel with no big problems.
I cannot begin to tell you how nervous I was about Caleb flying. He really doesn't like loud noises or amusement rides; I just knew we were going to have a huge meltdown at thirty thousand feet. I so did not want to be that mother that we all hate on planes. I spent the entire boarding time explaining to him how we would be going fast, fast, fast, and then his tummy would feel funny and we would be flying. He looked at me like I was insane and in his defense; I was a bit over the edge. We began to taxi and I began to hyperventilate. Would he freak out and everyone force us out without benefit of a parachute? Well, here is what happened....he laughed. He thought it was the funniest thing he had ever done and just giggled all through the takeoff.
Emily on the other hand was not feeling well and began giving me fits shortly after take off. She has flown before, so she wasn't even on my radar for problems. She did settle down and thankfully did not disturb those around us. The layover in Phoenix was another story. Em was having terrible tummy pains and she cried through the entire hour long stop. People were literally running to the ticket counter to make sure they were nowhere near that crazy baby. Once we boarded though she settled down and slept. Phew.
Thursday we headed to my mom's to celebrate by birthday. One of my oldest friends met us at one of my favorite restaurants and we had a great time. They even arranged for the waiters to sing to me even though they know I hate that. I plan on getting back at them very soon.
The visit with my mom couldn't have gone any better. I got to spend a few days with my na-na and her sister; Aunt Bobbi. That woman is a hoot and a half and I enjoyed every moment I had with them.
Garretts graduation was so beautiful. I cried like a baby the entire time. He looked so handsome in his cap and gown. I am one proud mom.
I will post pictures hopefully tomorrow. My camera was the only working one at the graduation and I promised to get copies for everyone, so I have to take the card into Wal-Mart before I put them on the computer. Hopefully I will get motivated enough to do that in the morning, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
I have more stories to tell, but I am beyond tired and just want to crawl into bed and sleep. Hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and I will be spending tomorrow playing catch up.
