Random thoughts
It is Friday; technically Matt's Monday; so I am sitting here enjoying the quiet after two days of him being underfoot. We spent the last two days trying to clean up the yard a bit. We have the perfect spot to put a pool for the summer, but it had these huge stumps all around the perimeter and the brokers were supposed to have the guys out to remove them two months ago. We got tired of waiting, so while I was in Texas Matt got them all moved to the woodpile. He finished up clearing the area and spent the past two days leveling it out. I hope to move the kids play structure out there this weekend.
Emily is putting words together now. While I was at the store she asked Jake; "where's mama?". She is brilliant; I know. Caleb is totally rocking his new haircut and keeps asking when he can have another. Two more weeks and the kids are out for the summer. I am still waiting on word from my mom about her schedule. If I could convince Alyssa to fly alone I would have her out here tomorrow, but she is a bit afraid.
Jake was notified yesterday that he is one of three Valedictorians for his class. Between them they have to come up with a two minute speech, so they each have about forty seconds to fill. He hates talking in front of people, but I know he will rock it out. I am extremely proud of him, but a bit tired of hearing from his mother's family. Nobody but Jake had anything to do with his success, least of all those people. I swear they are going to break their arms patting themselves on the back.
What is really amusing is that H's mother is under the impression that the kids were only allotted four tickets for the ceremony. I am really not sure where she got that idea, but I want to thank whomever told her this. In reality; this is not like the high school graduations where there is a limit due to space; as far as I know it is come one come all. However, far be it for me to correct her thinking. It is bad enough that H is attending; I really don't need her mother there as well. Cruel perhaps, but if you ever met these people you would totally understand.
I had a good chuckle last night when H's grandmother (the head loon) called Jake to congratulate him. She let him know that they were sending him money for graduation, but that it was only "between them, nobody else needed to know". Oh really? You can stick your nose into my daughter's life, but Jake can't tell us you sent him money? Actually, she didn't want H to know because H would insist Jake purchase an outfit of her choosing for graduation, but I still found it funny she; the nosiest loon around; would demand secrecy.
The kids are headed to H's for the weekend. Matt's mom was heading that way today anyway and offered to take them with her to save H the trip. She even offered to bring them home tomorrow following a family party down there. H declined and said she wanted them until Sunday. I swear, if that woman pulls something about bringing them home I am going to scream. She had an offer in place; please to not go there.
Things at work are a bit uncertain at the moment. We have thus far been spared from the damaging economy, but rumors abound that there are big changes brewing. While we both have a strong believe that God will get us through; we also know that God helps those that help themselves. Thus we are taking a "hope for the best while preparing for the worst" stance.
That pretty much sums up the swirling thoughts in my mind. Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!!

Yay for Jake!Â
Yeah, Yay for Jake! I know how he feels, I was Salutatorian in my high school class (of only 52) so I had to give a speech along with the Validictorian, and I was so scared, as I hate talking in groups of people. Oh, and yay for Emily, talking in sentences. That's awesome!
Yay! Thats awsome he made validictorian. I would not say a word to evil grandma just let her believe what she wants.
I will keep your job in my prayers. I know everything is getting hard now.
That is awesome about Jake. You got yourself some very smart kids. My sister is graduating June 8th. I can't believe she is graduating. I can't believe it has been five years since I graduated! Haha. I need to get back to school and finish college to get a degree.
I hope you have a pretty splendid Saturday night and that H doesn't do anything to ruin the kids coming homne tomorrow.
Yay go Jake.
and yay for smart babies :)
Well there have been no updates, so I have to assume the weekend wasnt a horrible nightmare!
Horay for Jake! If he hasnt already written something, tell him to write it for himself. What other people think of it really doesnt matter. My valedictorian speech was a big f you to a bunch of people - only I said it nicely. It was way better than the typical crap that you hear all of the time. Im sure no one else remembers it - but they wouldnt have anyway!
I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you guys and the job situation. I agree with your feelings 100%. (I hate when people say that God will provide without attempting to do anything!)
