One more day
My day from hell turned into being even worse than that. Liz stayed home because she still wasn't feeling great. Truth be told, she probably would have been fine, but she really wasn't overjoyed at the thought so I let her stay home.
Around 10 we head over to grab Whitney for yet another dress hunt. We hit the mall at 10:15. Why didn't I get the memo that ninety percent of the stores don't open until 10:30? No biggie, McDonald's is open and everyone is thirsty. Of course by the time we walk back over to the side of the mall she wants to shop in; the store is open and we all have drinks. I send Whit in on a dress search and stay out in the mall with the other three kids.
The perfect dress is in the window, but she can't find it anywhere within the store. Lucky for us the one in the window is her size and it fits beautifully. Apparently no boob issue. Whitney motions for me to come in to pay. This is where I should point out; Whit NEVER looks at price tags. It is like a long standing joke with us.
Whit: I found this great dress today, Mom.
Me: Really; how much?
Whit: Um, I don't know.
So, you can imagine my fear as I walked in thinking that the perfect dress was most likely going to set me back a hundred bucks and how could I say no when graduation is less than twenty-four hours away. I am happy to say that my mini me is finally learning. The dress was yet another bargain dress (less than twenty) and absolutely adorable.
After a quick stop at Target for the shoes I keep talking about; we got lunch and headed home. Back to the shoes for just a second. I know I kept raving about these hot pink flip flops and admittedly; they were adorable. The problem came when I started to try and visualize what she could wear them with. She has a few things, but unless I wanted to invest in an entire new wardrobe; the pink ones wouldn't get much wear. Instead I found the most adorable brown leather ones that she can wear with everything. Pictures to come tomorrow. (Read first sentence; this day sucked).
We are now home and I let Bella out to do her business. Now, we live in a pretty rural area. Gophers and such are all around and with such animals; fleas are always an issue. Bella has been pretty well protected; I keep her in one area of the yard that Sebastian isn't allowed access to. Today though I noticed more than a few had taken a vacation upon poor Bella. In turn, my poor puppies had a few that had jumped from Bella. After a much quicker lunch than expected; we sprung into action.
Bella is put in the bath immediately. While Jake is handling her; I am in the bedroom armed with clean blankets and spray for the area. I gently move my angels to the dog bed (Bella hates the thing) and get to work on putting fresh blankets down and dousing the area with spray. Then it is time to get to work on the puppies. With the help of a quick search; I have learned the best way to handle such a situation. A little water and some brushing and my poor things are now all better. Sebastian is the next to bathe and then a dousing outside to keep this from happening again. Ugh,
Oh, I forgot to mention the shoes. After I picked up the boys from school it was decided that I was the one that would be going to get Jake his shoes for the graduation. Matt is at work to make up for his taking off tomorrow and his day has become even crazier than mine. He is still not sure what time he will get home. In an effort to save a bit of time; I head over to the shoe store with him instead of heading right home. The dinner/dance starts at 5; so I am already pressed for time. While we are out purchasing the shoes (which blissfully took all of 5 minutes; I so love Jake); Matt called. H wants to know if Liz has changed her mind about staying with her tonight.
Which brings me to another part of my day. H called at the butt ass crack of dawn to ask if Liz was excited about tonight. Liz was a bit perplexed as to what she was talking about, but the idea was; H was getting a motel room up here so that she wouldn't have to drive up so early in the morning. She had decided (without consulting Matt) that the children would stay with her tonight. For reasons I was still unclear on; Liz was not excited about this visit with H and stated that she wanted to stay here tonight. There was even some talk about her not going this weekend, but waiting until we head to Phoenix the first of July. This is highly unusual and I knew something was up; I just didn't know what.
After a discussion with Liz; Matt called H and told her that she was incorrect to assume the children would be with her this evening. They all had school in the morning and it was an important day for Jake. H then said well she didn't really mean Jake; she meant Josh and Liz. Oh yes; just the ones that she can manipulate, not the one that has been onto her for years. He said he would leave it up to the kids to decide.
Now, back to the phone call on the way from the shoe store. H won't let it go. She wants Liz with her tonight. I ask Josh and he wants to go. Color me shocked.
We then call home and now that Liz knows her na-na won't be putting earrings into her ears against her will; she has decided to go as well. Yep; that was why Liz did not want to go visit H. The second loon in command; na-na; refuses to understand that Liz no longer likes wearing earrings. She has had her ears pierced since birth; literally; and for the past year or so has decided that she doesn't like them. She is ten; they are her ears. My feeling is; they are your ears and you don't have to wear them. Seems loon as other ideas. She was insisting that Liz would have earrings in no matter what. It had Liz so stressed out that she was willing to give up her summer visit with her mom to keep it from happening. What planet are these people from?Another phone call to H this morning put that issue to bed. Thankfully, H agreed with me and promised that she would not allow that to happen.
Now, I am giving the puppies their little baths when the phone rings about a zillion times in less than ten minutes. First it is H. We haven't left yet; make sure Ange packs your medicine. Do you own an iron because you need your shirt ironed, Jake. If Ange can't figure out how to work an iron; I will have to take them with me to the motel and iron them there. I will just bring them to you in the morning when I drop Josh off at school. Jake cracked me up, yet again. "I ALREADY told you; there is no place to change. The gym is locked and I refuse to change in the parking lot with everyone watching. Ange knows how to work an iron and if she finds it necessary to iron my shirt; I promise that she will. Can you please stop repeating the same thing to me over and over?" I swear that kid is really mine.
The next phone call is second loon in command. Is your shirt ironed? Has Ange packed your medication? Did you tell her it was time for your medication? Why are you giving Bella a bath? When did she have the puppies? ect.
By the time she was done; we all needed drinks. First; I am the person that spent three hours at the doctor with Liz. She has taken every dose on time since we received it. Yes, I do know how to use an iron. Bring your face over and I will show you. Jake is giving Bella a bath because she needed one. She had the puppies yesterday; I didn't feel it necessary to send you a note seeing how it is none of your damn business. Ugh.
Yet another call was to once again tell us that they should be here around 6. Really didn't need a timeframe. The dark clouds and howling dogs always warn me of your impending arrival.
That sums up my day. One more day and all this is over. I can't wait.
