  • Bella, Bella, Bella

I finally got my baby home. I swear it took longer to pick her up than it did to drop her off, but she is home. They brought her in to me and she was so excited to see her mama. That little tail went to wagging and she practically jumped into my arms.

She is doing wonderfully and they told me that there was a good chance she could still nurse her puppies. We were told we wouldn't really know until she got home and saw them. Well, let me tell you; she was even more excited to see her puppies. Spike had crawled out of the basket by the time we got home and was making quite a fuss. Bella ran straight to him and picked him up to place him back on the bed. She laid right down and put him on her teat while I put Pebbles and Bam Bam up there as well. A quick peek a moment ago showed me a sleeping mommy and her contented puppies. Phew; perhaps I can stop being the wet nurse now.

There still stands a chance that her milk has diminished to the point that they will need supplemental feedings, but Bella will be able to do much of the work. I have to keep an eye on them and make sure they are responding like a normal well fed puppy would be. Sleeping between meals and no mewing sounds means that they have gotten sufficient milk. Restlessness and lots of crying means that they are still hungry. Quiet and sleeping is how they are right now and I hope that is how they remain for the next few hours.

With that situation somewhat under control; I can relax just a bit and let the housework drag out over the next few days. I was more than a bit stressed on the lack of sleep and amount of laundry that was waiting. Thankfully I can sleep tonight and play catch up on the rest of the laundry tomorrow.

H is still at it. Last night she called to inform us that Jake was complaining of a stomachache. Okay, um, give him something for it? She always goes off the deep end when one of the kids gets sick. I won't be shocked if she calls later to tell us she rushed him to the ER. She took Josh to the ER a few years ago when he had the all raging temperature of 99. She was shocked and disturbed when they didn't admit him right away.  I just feel like yelling at her; "buy some pepto bismol and take care of your own kids for a change." She seems to think that when they are sick she should not be required to care for them. I should just run right down and take over. Yeah, so not happening.

Anyway; dryer is screaming and I am off to fold some clothes. Rumor has it some crazy lady is coming to visit me in a month and my house is so not ready for guests. Perhaps in a month I can have it all  clean.

Have a great weekend. Bella says thanks for all the kind thoughts.
