Museum fail
Note to self; do not try and attend the free Tuesdays at the museums on the very first Tuesday following the end of school.
We get to Balboa Park with no problem. There are tons of people, but there are always tons of people. We park, get the little ones out of the car and begin the hike to the Science museum. As I approach the building I see this long rope and line of people. Oh yes, an hour and a half wait just to get into the museum. I think not. The Model Train Museum is also free so we head over there. That would prove to be an even bigger mistake. It is 82 outside, a nice cool ocean breeze blowing in. We head into the train museum only to discover the elevator is out of order. Great, this means leaving the stroller upstairs and carrying Em down. No sooner do we get down there that we realize it is so overcrowded that there is literally no place to walk. Not to mention it has to be about 120 down there. It seems the air conditioner was a forgotten concept. We quickly made our way back up the stairs and decided to alter the plan of the day.
A quick run around "the forest" as Caleb called it to chase the wild monkey's in the bush and we were on our way back toward home. (Whitney had him convinced that they must hunt the wild monkey's and he ran with it). We ended up at the park near the house where the kids had a great time. It was Emily's first time in a swing and she absolutely loved it. It made me realize I need to begin my search for a swingset once again.
Overall, it was a good day. There are still some issues that are arising with Alyssa and I suspect some problems with the ex soon. Just taking it day by day for now. We are thinking of heading back to the beach today, but I might just stay home and clean up a bit. Everyone but me is still asleep, so I am seriously leaning towards a clean day.
Have a great day.
Getting ready to go hunt down the wild monkey's at the park.

Sounds like it wasnt a bad day even if you didnt get to go to the museums!
A few years back, I spent the summers watching 2 kids. Twice a week the local theater had free showings of PG or G rated movies in the morning. I remember that they literally had to tell people they couldnt sit on the steps and they had to leave because of fire codes. If you werent there 45 minutes early, you didnt get to go! Free stuff is great... the problem is that everyone else thinks so too!
The puppies are getting so big already! So cute!
Aw, the puppies are adorable!
OMG the puppies are so cute!! Ship one to me!! LoL
I am glad you made the best of the day and didnt just go back home.
That stinks, but atleast you still ended up having a decent day.
Oyf. I've learned that there are certain parks that we cannot visit during the Summer. Normal weekends? No problem. Summer vacation? Everyone, their brother and his 10 kids out there!
I'm expecting trouble as well... Friday, Idiot Child asked, without the kids present, if we had plans for the rest of the day and Saturday/if he could just take the kids from there and start his week early. And save me $25 in gas and 3 hours of my life?? Be my guest! But...uhm...we are kinda just springing this on the kids at a moment's notice... So we decided we'd ask and leave it up to them. They opted to come back to Orlando with me instead. It was nothing personal; C plainly stated, "We haven't gotten to play on the Xbox yet...I'd like to do that!", but he got all tense and huffed back to his truck without another word to any of us. ...perhaps we should hunker down with those margs now...
*swoons over a puppy...remembers how much work housebreaking is...goes back to petting the cats* They are eatmeupadborable though. :)
