  • Zoo day

Thanks to Bella I am up way earlier than I ever wanted so I thought I would blog about some new developments.

I spoke to the dumbass yesterday. Well, in reality  we had a text message conversation, but that is close enough for me. My mom had come through for me (I am still in shock) and called him. She actually called him on an unrelated issue, but got the conversation around to Alyssa and her living situation. Go Mom! She let him know that we were in a much better position to get her the help she would need both medically and education wise. She mentioned how difficult it must be having Garrett and his girlfriend in the house expecting the new baby this fall. Wouldn't it just be better to allow Alyssa to remain her away from all the stress? Surprisingly he agreed. I think for him it is difficult to admit that financially things are really bad and it would take a huge load off of him if she remained with us. He said as much to her and that was all the opening that I needed.

When we spoke he just asked that I not force her if she absolutely wanted to come home. He is worried that she will hate us both. I, however, have a plan in place and he has agreed to allow me to implement said plan. I promised him that he would come out the good guy in the whole situation and if she hated anyone it would be me. I know that once she begins school and makes some new friends that everything will be great. I just have to keep her here long enough to get her in school. The next week is full of fun stuff and I am hoping that turns the tide on our summer. I can do this; I know I can.

We had a fun afternoon yesterday. Matt got called in early Thursday, so his one day off turned into no days off once again. He did get home by 11, but needed some rest before we went out to dinner. So, the girls, Caleb, and myself went on a flip flop search for Whitney. I think I own six pairs and I just gave away about ten. Whitney and I wear the same size, but she had this pair we picked up at Target several months ago and those were the only ones she wanted. Oy vey. We hit three Targets before we found a pair similar enough for her. She kept finding the right shoe, but every store only had size 5. She hasn't worn a shoe that small since she was 10. It was fun though because I got to spoil Alyssa just a bit.

Spoiling Alyssa is pretty easy. A new belt for her pants and some cute socks and she was smiling ear to ear. I wish they were all that easy. We had dinner out as a family last night and I think I heard her actually laugh. Of course, with Whitney's new outfit, we were all laughing. I didn't get a picture, but let me try and describe it. If you say the movie Pretty Woman picture Julia Roberts in her hooker outfit. No, it wasn't that bad, but it was funny.  She had on this adorable black/purple tank top and a pair of short shorts. Not quite daisy dukes, but close. We had picked up these thigh high socks at Target; why, I will never know; and she put those on. Originally she was supposed to wear Uggs with it, but at the last minute decided to wear her new flip flops. It was the shoes that did it for me. She looked hysterical. Gotta love a girl that isn't afraid to make a fashion statement.

In a few hours we are off to the zoo. I am picking up a new umbrella stroller on the way for Emily. I have been using one that I had for Caleb and well, it is blue and doesn't have a shade. Emily needs all things pink and really needs some sort of shade so that she doesn't bake in the sun. Oh my; I must tell you about Miss Crankypants. That is Emily's new name. When I took Whit to the doctor yesterday I also brought Caleb and Emily. I have never had a problem with Emily, anywhere. She is the most mellow child you would ever meet. That day she was possessed by demons and turned into crankypants. She actually threw a little fit. Never have I seen that happen before. I guess the terrible twos are upon us. God help me.

Whitney is feeling somewhat better so we are thinking it must have been some weird virus. Thank goodness. I will post pictures and stuff from our zoo trip tomorrow. Oh and before I forget; I got my new bikini yesterday. While I am still a few pounds away from rocking it, it looked pretty nice on me. Another ten pounds and I think it will be perfect. Have a great day and thanks for all the kind words.

Someone tell me why I am so excited that Alyssa is staying? LOL. I do think that, in your enviroment, she will blossom into a wonderful little girl!

The boys have asked to go to the zoo. Financially, it ain't happenin' before school starts up again (August 24th here), but I do hope that perhaps we can arrange something this Fall...

@filtered_sunlight - LOL, nobody has bothered to tell Alyssa the game plan yet. Shhh

Even with the problems Matt and I are going through, our home is a much more positive place for her to be in.

I just dropped 122 bucks to get into our zoo. It was fun, but seriously, that was a mani, pedi, and new hair do. Well, okay, maybe not the hair do because last time it cost me almost 150 for the color, but darn close.

@gwacemom - Esh. We ALL (well, save Megan) need hair cuts. *sigh* Otherwise, yeah, I think it's about the same for us to go to the zoo, too.

When will Alyssa find out? LOL.

  • gwacemom

@filtered_sunlight - (whistling) she is technically scheduled to fly back on Wedensday. I am thinking Thursday??? LOLOL

LOL, she will find out Thrusday.  You crack me up!  Im really excited that Alyssa will still be there when I get there.

When do the other 3 kids return to your home for the school year?

You guys have expensive zoos!  I paid $120 for our membership.  That includes 2 adults, the kids in the household up to 8 (they love even you, Ange!), and 2 guests at each visit.  And all of that is for a whole year!  Oh, and free parking.  I feel spoiled now.  I hope you guys have fun anyway!

@der_lila_Stern@xanga - Well, due to some recent drama (shocking I know), we are making plans to get the other three home asap. Most likely they will be home next weekend.

  • der_lila_Stern@xanga

@gwacemom - drama?  I was wondering where it all went to... lol.  Im surprised it took this long!

  • gwacemom

@der_lila_Stern@xanga - Me too, I figured they would be back before the 4th of July.
