  • Yippee..it is my anniversary

    And here I sit blogging. Do you get the sense that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be? I would love to blame Matt, but in all honesty, a work day is a work day. He did come home fairly early (6 as opposed to 8) and helped me with dinner. Well, he served the hot dogs and stuff while I talked to my mom on the phone. The plan is to celebrate on Wednesday night. I did tease him about not having some awesome gift for me because this year I had a great one for him. He is usually really good at gifts, but we both have a tendency to forget when our anniversary is, so I can forgive him this one lapse. I guess when you drop kids off at school and then head to the courthouse to get married because it is your day off, the day just doesn't hold much meaning for you.  We have the same conversation every year at the start of August; "Is it the 24th or the 26th? I don't know, but I think the 24th. Oh hell, pull out the certificate, that will tell us." Jake says we just make up a random day every year. Hey, whatever works.

    I found him the ugliest coolest Padre's shirt. It is this Hawaiian print thing with all things Padre's on it. He has wanted this thing for two years and I finally did a search online and found the hideous thing. It got here on Friday and Caleb is horrible about keeping secrets, so he got his gift that day. What did I get you ask? NADA... Not true, I did get a new VS bra and two books. I just like to make him think I feel skimped on.

    I called respite care today. I really dislike respite care, but I must utilize them at least twice per year to keep Emily eligible for some of her services. I know some mother's would love the thought of having someone pay to have a sitter come in, but that is just not me. I have my own built in sitters in Jake and Whitney and I trust them totally. Not so much strangers. However, one day this week some poor woman will come over to "watch" Emily while I sit here and watch her. I am given some ungodly amount of hours per month for respite, but I use only the two hours per year necessary to keep her on track. Who would need a break from this sweet angel?

    That is all from my boring world. Hopefully I will have something profound tomorrow, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

    Normally, I'd be on the same page with you on the respite care thing, but this week? With Megan crawling a full speed, pulling herself up on things, and wanting to kick, kick, kick whenever I'm holding her (and she has an uncanny ability to hit my staples everytime)...I'll tell you what, send the sitter over here and I'll let her watch Megan while I take a nap!

    I had a VS bra once and didn't dig it...it actually dug me instead... Perhaps it was because it was a convertible one and had to be able to get enough "traction" to stay up even without straps...?

    If it makes you feel better, this year on our anniversary, Jim went to class and I went out to dinner with a friend.  I guess that is what happens when you dont have an exciting wedding! lol.

    @filtered_sunlight - I have never been a fan of VS bras either.  They were never comfortable to me.  Thankfully, my Maidenform bras are awesome and I can usually get them for mad cheap when I need a new one!

    @filtered_sunlight - If I could have her sent to you instead I certainly would. I can't imagine how you are holding up.

    This is actually my second attempt at a VS bra. The first one I tried went back immediately and I got a pair of sweats instead. Matt was so thrilled.  This time around I seem to have found the perfect fit, but I still hate paying that much for something to hold my boobs up.

    @der_lila_Stern@xanga - I don't feel so bad now. LOL

    @der_lila_Stern@xanga - I fell in love with the coton Fruit of the Loon ones (around $10 at Target) and I dearly miss them while nursing.

    @gwacemom - I bought mine because they were doing a survey in the mall: go into a back room, look at some sample bras, answer some questions, get $25 to spend at VS. At least I didn't spend a full $45 on the thing...

    @filtered_sunlight - I started wearing maidenform when I was young because there was an outlet not far.  Now there is an outlet 5 minutes from my house.  I have found some fantastic ones (although strange colors) and clearance.  Even in the regular section, I can almost always get 20-30% off.  It makes them reasonable.  And they just fit me well.  The VS ones just dont.

    I definitely dont look forward to ever wearing nursing bras!
