  • I.Hate.The.Flu.

Mark two more down on the list of sick people at our house. Liz and Alyssa both woke up with the early symptoms of the flu. I will not go so far as to say this is the swine flu because frankly, I don't care which flu it is. It is kicking our collective asses.

Ironically, the only one besides Whitney (who has been at her friend's house for the past week)  in the house not sick is Josh. That child never gets sick. Jake and I think that even the germs are afraid of him. I will say he had somewhat of a cough last week, but nothing like what we are facing.

Emily is on day six, I believe, of the bug. I am hoping that she will start to show improvements over the next few days. Caleb woke up this morning and when I asked him how he felt, he said in his most pitiful voice; "Not so good, Mommy". He is just too cute. He seems to be feeling slightly better at the moment, he is listening to "Poker Face" in the living room. Yes, my four year old has a huge love affair with Lady Gaga, what can I say?

Matt, in a rare act of compassion, actually left work early last night so that I could go to bed early. That was wonderful except I was totally unable to fall asleep. I laid there from six until almost eleven. I finally chugged the last little bit of nyquil we had and begged for mercy. It worked because I fell asleep just in time for Emily to wake up. She had fallen asleep at six and at midnight was up feverish again. Thankfully, she went back to sleep fairly easily.

I spoke with Whitney this morning and have pretty much told her this house is quarantined and she needed to stay at Mandi's until we were over this stuff. She has yet to succumb and I really don't want her missing any more school than necessary.

All the hard work that Jake and I did yesterday was quickly destroyed and frankly, I don't care. I am too sick to worry about it at this point.

Emily is scheduled for a developmental evaluation next week, but I think I am postponing it until a later date. It is just a formality she has to go through in order to see if she still qualifies for services. My smartie pants is counting to three with her fingers as she says "one, two, three". I am pretty confident that she will not qualify for services due to developmental delays. However, because of her Down syndrome, she will qualify under another criteria. I am not exactly overly concerned either way. Emily is making great strides and I have no doubt that she will continue in this manner.

That is all from my (oink oink) flu infested house.

    Later!
